Privacy Policy
CapiBar Studio ("the tool", "we") is a private tool, run by an individual developer, that publishes short videos to YouTube channels the developer owns and reads how they perform. This policy explains what data the tool accesses, how it is used and stored, and how to revoke access or ask for deletion.
YouTube API Services
CapiBar Studio uses YouTube API Services. By using the tool, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Who the tool works with
The only person who signs in to CapiBar Studio is its operator, who owns every channel it connects to. The tool has no public sign-up. The one way it touches other people's information is by reading public comments under our own videos, described below.
Data accessed through Google sign-in
The operator signs in with Google OAuth 2.0 and grants these permissions, each used only for the purpose listed:
| Permission | What the tool does with it |
|---|---|
youtube.readonly | Identifies the signed-in channel, lists its uploads, and reads each video's title, privacy status, publish schedule, synthetic-content label and public counts (views, likes, comments). API calls: channels.list, playlistItems.list, videos.list. |
yt-analytics.readonly | Reads YouTube Analytics reports for our own videos: views, engaged views, average view duration and percentage, likes, comments, shares and subscribers gained. API call: reports.query (YouTube Analytics API). |
youtube.upload | Uploads our own videos with their title, description, tags, category, made-for-kids setting, synthetic-content label and publish time. API call: videos.insert. |
The tool does not change or delete existing videos, and it does not post likes, subscriptions or comments through the API.
Public data accessed with an API key
Some videos ask viewers to vote in the comments for the next topic. To count those votes, the tool reads the public comments under our own videos with a YouTube Data API key (commentThreads.list, comments.list), and checks which of our videos are public (playlistItems.list). It reads each comment's text and the commenter's channel ID only in memory, to count one vote per viewer, and then discards them. Comment text and commenter identities are never stored. Only the vote totals are kept, labeled as figures we calculated, not as YouTube data.
How the data is used
- To publish our videos and confirm they were published with the right settings.
- To measure how our videos perform, so we can decide which video ideas to continue.
- To choose the next video's topic from viewer votes.
We do not sell, rent or share YouTube API data with anyone. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not combine it with data from other sources about any person. No third-party content or ads appear in the tool.
Separately from the YouTube API, some of our videos are uploaded through a third-party posting service, Zernio. Zernio receives the video file and its title and description from us. It receives no data that CapiBar Studio obtained from YouTube API Services.
Storage and retention
| Data | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in token | A file on the operator's systems, readable only by the operator's account | Until access is revoked |
| Statistics and analytics for our videos, with each video's ID, privacy status and schedule | Project files on the operator's systems | As long as needed to evaluate a video. They are refreshed from YouTube on each run while a video is being measured, and the tool confirms its authorization on every daily run. |
| Comment text and commenter IDs | Memory only | Not stored |
| Vote totals (calculated by us) | Project files on the operator's systems | Up to 36 months |
The tool, and this website, set no cookies and use no tracking. They store nothing on your device.
Revoking access
You can revoke CapiBar Studio's access to a Google account at any time, in either of two ways:
- In the tool, with its disconnect command (
revoke). It cancels the sign-in with Google and immediately deletes the saved sign-in token. - On the Google security settings page. The tool detects the revoked access on its next run and deletes the saved sign-in token.
After access is revoked either way, we delete all other data obtained through that sign-in within 7 days.
Deletion requests and questions
If you commented on one of our videos, or have any other question or complaint about this policy, email the address below. We answer within 7 days, and we delete any data we hold about you within 7 days of a request. Deleting data held by CapiBar Studio does not affect data stored by YouTube.
Children
CapiBar Studio is not directed to children, and every video it uploads is marked as not made for kids.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the tool starts using data in a way this policy does not cover, the operator must accept the updated policy before that use begins.
